A Shattered Italian Dream... Fading colors of Azzurri

Date : 24th June 25, 2010

Venue : Johannesburg , Ellis Park

The final whistle blew leaving the score line read 3-2 in favour of Slovakia,  Italy disappointed and mad about football Italians must be trying to accept the fact that the players will have to return back to early from SA.
Italians, though, do disappointment well, with a touch of Latin charm. They don't turn nasty, like the English used to when they lost. The hurt is real. But there's a fatalism behind the anger - especially in the south. Such is life; they seem to say with a shrug of the shoulders. As a young priest put it - watching in despair with a group of children on a church-run summer camp: "We won it in 2006; it's someone else's turn this year."
For a side undemonstrative of its real strength in WC , the people of Italy may be a little phlegmatic but the emotions are not hard to understand.

I guess an early exit from world cup will pave the way for a new formation of Azzurri with more young forwards, Midfielders and the defenders too including the GK .

Diamonds are forever

Chelsea 1 - 0 Man Utd .... Thats what the final score read after 90+5 entertaining minutes of highly professional football at Stamford bridge.Perheps Man U played best football of thr season and shook a little of Diamond formation of Chelsea , still Chelsea hold the control of game and did well enough in defence....
Sir Alex , as usual fuming at the referee... so nothing new about it.
I wonder why a man like him always remain unhappy about the things that do happen in football...अभी तक आदत नहीं पड़ी क्या ??
anyways.. next week thr is no major league match so i will have to find something else to keep me entertained in that slot of time...
Redesigning this blog wont be a bad idea??

India Lift the Nehru cup

It got me thrilling.. we went camp nou ( Barcelona FC home ground), ppl said its a wastage of money to get trained there. Now same ppl find themselves spellbound when team performance spoke.
Yess .. we won it n it was a delight to all :)
n yesss.. we badly need proper training facilities ....its such a pity not to have a single well equipped training spot in entire country...

Where ROME was lost and won: UEFA champions league

The last time I wrote for this.. Man U came out as winner. They were the winner amongs equal, the other side being Chelsea. That result was neither a
great sight for the russian(Owner of Chelsea) nor to myself specially when they loose title in Russia itself. This time the better, the fanatstic and the beautiful came out to held hand on the glitzy Champions league trophy.Barca stick to the plans they are best at.. maintained possession , made fine passes and were great in midfield.
Xavi and Ineista were no lesser to Man U , electrifying Messi( Man of the Match) was also instrumental.ManU experimented with the formation only to get unbalanced . The Ronaldo effect was subdued by lack of support from midfield.Infact Barca won it more in midfield itself.
Rome was not that thundurous blame it to majority of complacent ManU supporters who only came to watch an anticipated victory and could not inspire and motivate their side up in the downturn when ManU were lagging after 10 mins.
btw I like one banner reading " If I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor'.
The Silverware is waiting to be won and owned at wembly( 30th may, FA cup)... Hope this comes as perfect send off for Guss Hiddink.

a week for sportbuffs

Last week was filled with a lot of action for the people who follow Tennis and football. In tennis they witnessed two mega matches in Australian open Rafael nadal Vs Verdasco ( semi) and Rafa Vs Federar in final. Both are memorable one specially the moment came after federar started tearing down.
In BPL , Liverpool took on Chelsea only to beat them 2-0. Away match aint working for Chelsea these days. They gotta improve alot as the still have little hope to make a comeback.
I loved the news about inclusion of Qurasma into the squad. Guess he'll make the difference and we will see Chelsea playing the same b'ful game.
Still there is a lot of action to watch for...

Champions League Final

Hi..

The first All english title for champions league is over and the winner has also been decided by the destiny :) . Man Utd have turned out to be the winner.Though Chelsea played great football but that was not enough to create history for them and thus be the London's first club to win Champions League Title. I bet you guys.. Sir Alex know how to play the cards and this is something Chelsea manager( Avaram Grant) still need to learn.

Leave the game behind and lets talk about the money involved... The title is worth 5.6 million pound!! and with all the sponserships and endorsements it has been speculated that the financial benefit could amount to 15 times higher ...that's whopping amount. The final itself is estimated to make an 210 million pound impact on cash flow.

Anyway, whatever be the money involved the players and Fans made sure that the beautiful game stays b'ful!

cheers...
